|
2008-05-08 10:34:38 AM

A good old Bank Holiday knockout competition locally and with some excellent prize money up for grabs....
Pat flew through his first match, winning 3 - 0 only to be drawn against Richie, \'The Flying Scotsman in the secod round, who produced some fantatsic darts to beat Pat 3 legs to 2.
Back to the practice board....

| Open Holland Singles - 27/4/08
|
2008-05-08 10:32:11 AM
|
|---|
This additional event held in Holland is a massive tournament and attracted well over 250 players from the UK, Holland and other european countries too - so, of all the people that Pat was lined up against in his first round.... yep, Andy Hamilton!!
Bit of a strange game this one, as Pat did really well and won 3 - 2, they shook hands and left the stage, only to be called back to carry on as it was the best of 7... Unfortunately, Choppa had lost his concentration and momentum and as play resumed, Andy came back and won the game 4 - 3.

| Open Holland Masters - 26/4/08

Pat \'clogged off\' over to Holland to take part in his first ever ranked tournament in Holland. Pat was dealt a blow when he was allocated a really tough draw against Mick \'The Magnet\' McGowan, who, on his day, can be a top class player.....well today was that day and Pat took a battering and lost 3 sets to 0.

| Players Championships - Glasgow - 19/4/08
|

|---|
After a short break from the circuit, the action was on again with a Players Championship Tournament up in Glasgow, Scotland. Pat was ready for the challenges that lay ahead of him today, taking on Stuart Holden in the preliminary round and winning 3 sets to 0.
The second game of the day was never going to be easy against Mervyn King, yet Pat played some truly excellent darts and shot off to a 2 sets to 1 lead. The game was superb and the scores brilliant, Merv eventually came back to level at 2 sets all - so it was all on the final set........ unfortunately, the final set went with Mervyn King who marched on into the second round.
Another fantastic game that shows Pat is more than capable of playing with some of the best players in the world...Mervyn went on to beat Phil Taylor 3 - 1 and win the tournament, so Pat - you managed to take the most sets off the him on the day - good on ya mate! By the way - Pat also picked up some ranking money and is now officially in the Order of Merit.

| Pats First Exhibition - 16th April 2008
|
2008-05-08 10:18:26 AM
|
|---|
Tonight was Pats first exhibition over here in the UK, The Boscobel Tavern in Tipton proved an ideal venue with a huge lounge and the dartboard set up right in the middle of it!!
There were quite a few regulars up for the challenge of taking on Choppa, as well as a few others of his fans who had travelled over from Ibstock. He played lots of 501 games with the chaps and chapesses, and also played a few doubles games to add to the fun. Telling jokes as he went, everyone had a great night.
Pat also had a merchandise stall, selling T-shirts, mugs, photos and flights.
All in all a great night and hopefully the first of many more to come.

| Practice, Practice, Practice...

Pat knows the key to his success on the circuit is down to practice, and after being here for just over 6 weeks now, Pat is finally getting in to some sort of routine. He has had a practice session with the one and only BULL, Terry Jenkins and with a local superleague player Neil Wild. There are also plans for Pat and Jan to visit Somerset and spend a couple of days with the LEGEND that is Bob Anderson, getting in some practice - and no doubt spending some time on the golf course!! And both Andy Hamilton and Chris Mason have welcomed Pat to their practice regimes, and will be tossing tungsten in the coming weeks and months.

| Gilberts £1000 knockout - 5/4/08
|
2008-04-07 3:46:05 PM
|
|---|
A local knockout tourmament that attracts many players who represent their local league, superleague, county and even the PDC. Pat opened the day with a hard fought game against Dicky Foster, eventually running out the victor, which seemed a catalyst for Pat and spurred him on. He met the imperious Chris Mason in the semi finals after victory over Lee Ashe (shropshire county player) and Steve Hine (PDC world ranked player). Pat was scoring heavy and enjoying his games, but there was no one on the planet that was going to stop Chris on the day, and Pat eventually lost 4 - 0 to the runaway winner of the tournament, Chris Mason. Good result for Pat and definitely a confidence booster, oh yeh and £100 in his pocket... way to go Choppa!!

| Ibstock - The Night of Champions...
|
2008-04-07 3:45:16 PM
|
|---|
Friday 28th March was a night not to be forgotten, after just over an hours drive, we had arrived.....
This night was one of the best exhibitions I have ever been to, and Pat was in heaven... He was invited up on stage with Bob Anderson and current World Champion John Part, along with local player Jamie Caven to be a part of the extravaganza.
Walking on to Walzing Matilda with a guy dressed as crocodile dundee, yes inclduing the corked hat and inflatable crocodile, to hear the crowd roar Choppa, Choppa, was truly an incredible sight. Pat played John Part in a grudge match, but unfortunately lost 2 legs to 1 (but Choppa reckons they are level on legs now after the last exhibition!!!) He then spent the rest of the night either practicing with John, Bob or Jamie or with the crown who loved him and wanted autographs and photos.
Fantastic night had by all!!

| Players Championships - Telford - 29/3/08

After practising long and hard in the run up to this weekend, Pat was to take on a little known player by the name of Jamie Robinson AKA Dizzy - little did Pat expect what he got from this young guy. Jamie pounded the board with 140\\\'s and a couple of Maximum\\\'s to beat Pat 3 sets to 0. A disappointing day for Pat, who realised what playing in the PDC is all about!!

| UK Open Midlands Regional Final - 30/3/08
|
2008-04-07 3:29:15 PM
|
|---|
Today was the last chance for Pat to progress to the televised UK Open - he needed a good few wins on his board to ensure he won enough to qualify, he won the first game 5 legs to 1 against a youngster, Darren Whittingham, who despite his young years had a good game and was scoring heavily. The second match was more challenging for Pat, taking on an established player in Welshman Steve Evans, where unfortunately he lost 5 legs to 1.

| Easter Weekend...Open Comps...
|
2008-04-07 3:20:19 PM
|
|---|
Over the Easter Weekend, Pat played in a couple of local open tournaments, including Macclesfield Snooker Club on the Saturday where he progressed to the last 8, only to get knocked out in a very close game and on Monday, the Tipton Open, where after going 2 legs to 0 up, lost out to some equisite darts by Lol Fraser. All good practice though...

| UK Open North West Regional Final - 16/3/08
|
2008-03-18 9:02:51 PM
|
|---|
On the back of his solid games the day before, Pat was ready for the challenges that lay ahead of him today, taking on Brian Jones, a county player, Pat played some truly excellent darts and won 5 legs to 1. The second game of the day was never going to be easy against Mark Walsh, the guy that ran Phil Taylor to the very limit in the World Championships only a couple of months earlier. The game was superb and the scores brilliant, the first 2 legs went with the throw, then the third was won by Mark against the throw, Pat now with an even bigger task dug in and brought the game level at 4 legs each. In the final leg, Pat hit back to back 140\'s followed by a straight 100, which left him with an outshot whilst his opponent was on 179, unfortunately, the 2 darts that Pat had at double top grazed the wire and gave Mark the eventual win. A fantastic game that shows Pat is more than capable of playing with some of the best players in the world... heres to the next events!

| Players Championships - Wigan - 15/3/08
|
2008-03-18 8:56:04 PM
|
|---|
Pat was in action again at the weekend, taking part in the Players Championships in Wigan. Pat had a tough draw, firstly taking on Richard (Dicky) Foster, an excellent upcoming player from the Midlands. In a great game Pat triumphed with a 3 sets to 2 win, and setting up a meeting with Michael Barnard, another young man who plays an excellent game. It was a tight game, with neither player opening up a distinct advantage, unfortunately for Pat, Michael hit the winning double first and claimed a 3 - 2 win for himself. I think Pat would agree that he is starting to settle a little now and knows what he has to do to win... so watch this space!

| Choppa takes PART in a local Exhibition....
|

|
|---|
Wednesday 5th March saw some of the biggest names in darts roll in to Wolverhampton, Wayne Mardle, Peter Manley, Adrian Lewis and current World Champ John Part held an exhibition at The Cleveland Arms just outside of the town. Choppa was a guest on the night and was unveiled to a massive crowd of almost 400 darts fans. He took on John Part in a head to head duel, beating the World Champ to cries of ..theres only one choppa orreal... from the crowd. A fantastic night and a chance for Patrick to find out what a darts exhibition is all about.... good on ya mate!!

|
2008-02-28 9:32:31 PM
|
|---|
Last night, Wednesday 27th February, Pat popped to an Exhibition at The Boscobel Pub in Tipton to catch up with Eric Bristow. He had a great time catching up with some of the fans he had made during his time over here at the Grand Slam and was challenged to a match with Eric.... never the one to turn down a challenge like that, Choppa only went on to beat Eric 3 - 0 with some great darts. He rounded off the evening having photos and signing autographs with his fans.

Pat was invited to play his first English Super League game on Saturday night for Wolverhampton City, with the lads from McGhees Irish Bar and the Tap & Spile pub. Despite still recovering from his long flight only a day earlier, Choppa played well and won his game 3 - 0 with some good finishing and a 180.
